Fold/Roll - Ceramic
Clay in it’s natural form is soft and supple. In an effort to surrender to the material’s inherent natural qualities, I fold, roll or twist the clay and allow it to collapse on itself, letting it tear, wrinkle and come apart when it is stressed. The process is mostly spontaneous and un-designed. The striations and textures enhance the innate qualities of the clay and coax the stressed areas to split.
